The tale of two authors: A short story of the battle for a Goodreads Profile and a bizarre discovery
If you are reading this, allow me to introduce you to myself. My name is Alex Freund. I am a painter and a writer. I have an interest in photography and a professional background in finance and client service, with a degree in psychology. I dabble in music playing trumpet and self teaching myself how to DJ. It turns out there is another author and photographer with the same namesake. I discovered the LA based creative a few years ago and little did I know our worlds would overlap in the form of a Goodreads Author Profile, more on that later.
I messaged Alex from LA to compliment on a photograph he took of Sean Lennon, who I had just seen perform in Wichita a few weeks prior to seeing his photo. After the brief back and forth he informed me of a group of Alex Freund's he has come across, including another photographer over seas he had been mistaken for on a few occasions. Not only are there multiple individuals with the same name, there is an eerily similar overlap in personality traits. There is a jazz trumpeter , a DJ, a CPA, a life coach, 2 photographers, and myself who is a painter and creative that sort of touches all aspects of the others.
Looping back to Alex Freund and myself, I recently messaged him again informing him of my upcoming book coming out 10.23.23 and he said he's published several titles and hopes there isn't any confusion or mishaps due to the same pen name. I didn't anticipate anything of it except the tedious, now resolved battle to claim my book as the author on Goodreads. There are now two Alex Freund author profiles on Goodreads and to eliminate any confusion, my profile can be found via this link.
I am kicking around the idea of a passion project of interviewing and detailing the lives of the aforementioned other Alex's, but for now I'll indulge on my first published work being released this month.
Thanks for reading.
'Til next time.
