Music Branding Design Journal
I had a fairly active music review blog a few years ago and wanted to revisit some of my favorite posts and start integrating them into my blog with the additional lens of being design and branding focused while keeping the essence of my original reviews. Below is the beginning of this archival revisit of past content in effort to give it new life.
The song that started the blog
Say what you will about big corporations monopolizing the consumer experience, Spotify knows how to get me out of my comfort zone. It is the primary reason I made the jump from Apple Music to the platform with the green and black color scheme. Without more delay, enjoy my first of ??? music blurbs.
Bone Bag. Is it a band? Is it a song? It was the first option...I don't want to drag the unneeded build up any longer.
Bone Bag is the 2nd most played song by the artist Superet.
For a song that starts with the most obnoxious 80s sounding synth I've heard since Stranger Things, this track caught my attention in the worst possible way followed by the best vintage sounding vocals I've heard in a long time. There are parts where the chorus sounds like if Bowie and a hair metal power ballad had a child.
As of January 2023, Superet has just under 39,000 monthly listeners and the song itself boasts an impressive 438k, considering the small following.
Small is relative of course. Enjoy my new song obsession, Bone Bag by Superet.
